The Twenty Years public program is a safe platform and gathering place to discuss the issues arising from the Twenty Years: The War in Afghanistan exhibition. Alongside panel discussions, talks, and a film screening, and an Afghan tea corner offering tea and sweets where you can speak informally with members of the Afghan community from Blacktown.

The program is in four parts covering the legacy of the war; a celebration of Afghan culture with a screening of the filmStranger, a future possibilities talk, and an online event about the year after the twenty-year war.

Coordinated by Maryam Zahid, an award-winning Afghan-Australian social activist and artist, in collaboration with journalist,Antony Loewenstein, and artist, Alana Hunt. Maryam is the founder and director of the not-for-profit organisation, Afghan Women on the Move.

We recommend that the public events are suitable for adults 16 and over. The talks and some of the content will discuss war and conflict, and may cause distress to some visitors.

Three Panel Discussions are being held as part of the Exhibition. Public program curated and produced by Maryam Zahid of Afghan Women on the Move.
